Working people need a voice more than ever and Working America is making that happen.
Recently you had a conversation with a Working America canvasser about how heating and cooling bills are getting higher in Arizona.
Luckily there’s a federally-funded program that helps eligible households in Arizona to cover energy costs. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps working families pay their heating/cooling bills, minimize crises, and make energy costs more affordable.
If you’re struggling to cover your home energy costs or have been threatened with disconnection, LIHEAP may be able to help. Both homeowners and renters may be eligible for this program.
QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify for LIHEAP, the applicant must have an income that falls within the program guidelines. Priority for service assistance is determined based on vulnerable household members. Higher priority may be granted if someone in your home is a senior citizen (60 years of age & older), a person with disabilities, a veteran, or a child under six years old. Additionally, a benefit will not be awarded to any applicant with a credit of $500 or more on their utility bill.

For households with more than eight (8) members, add $642 for each additional person to calculate the income limit.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO APPLY
Applicants interested in utility assistance will need to provide a copy of their current utility bill, photo ID, disconnection notice (if any), and proof of income. Failure to provide the required documentation may delay eligibility determination.
