Times can be extra tough during the summer for parents with school lunch off the table. But if you’re in Minnesota, you can check out this program that’s designed to give families some much needed relief.
Summer EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) provides $120 for eligible families to purchase groceries, helping families put meals on the table during the break. While some families will automatically receive these benefits if they are enrolled in other programs, any family with a child eligible for free and reduced lunch through the National School Lunch Program is eligible to apply.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE
Children who are part of families involved in many government assistance programs, or the free and reduced lunch program, are automatically enrolled.
If your child is not automatically enrolled, they may be eligible if your family is below a certain income and your school participates in the free lunch program. As of July 1, 2024, a family of 4 making less than $57,720 qualifies for Summer EBT.

WHERE CAN I SHOP
Once you have your card, you can check your balance and pull up a map of grocery stores and farmers markets by going to ebtedge.com and clicking on “Cardholder Portal.” Or if you prefer the phone, call the hotline at 651-431-4608.
HOW DO I APPLY
Most families who are receiving other benefits will automatically receive the Summer EBT benefit as well. If you are not yet receiving Summer EBT benefits, contact your school or district for an application today!
