Pennsylvanians Can Expect Lower Prescription Prices thanks to VP Harris

Pennsylvanians will pay less for prescriptions due to the Inflation Reduction Act and American Rescue Plan, both of which were championed by Vice President Kamala Harris.

At the start of the year, Eli Lilly, Sanofi, and Novo Nordisk, which are companies that make up 90% of the Insulin market, capped their Insulin prices at $35 per month due to pressure from the American Rescue Plan. This will make a huge difference in Pennsylvania, where 11.3% of the adult population has diabetes.

Too often, prescriptions here in the U.S. break the bank. Prior to the recent healthcare changes Harris fought for, Insulin actually cost more than 6 times more here than it does across the border in Canada.

Lowering Insulin costs is just one way Vice President Harris is helping working families make ends meet. These laws stop Big Pharma from hiking up their prices to make more money and leaving the rest of us with empty pockets.

Due to the Inflation Reduction Act, Medicare will now cap out-of-pocket drug costs at $2,000. Seniors on Medicare can also expect lower prescription prices in 2026 for drugs used to treat high cholesterol, psoriasis, Crohn’s disease, and heart failure. And, going forward, Medicare will now be able to negotiate the prices of 50 drugs per year.

These two laws are a huge investment in working Americans’ ability to get the healthcare they need.
